Okay, there is a reason Dennis and I agree on so many issues. Our collecting bug began in the same fashion and we both resonate with silver. Did I and do I collect pennies? Absolutely. Is that my thing? Not really. Neither are nickels, dimes, or quarters, regardless of silver content. Do I some in my collection? Yes. Now, like Dennis, I focus on Kennedy halves and prior. I would put my BU Kennedy collection up against any collection in terms of both quality and volume. There is nothing like a BU Kennedy roll. Wait, there is something more intoxicating, and this might be where we differ, I love PF Silver Eisenhowers, PF/MS Eagles, and finally, MS Morgans. There is nothing better than sourcing raw BU Morgans, estimating a grade, submitting for grade, and then seeing if you were right and seeing those beauties when they come back.
All this, and the notorious silver bug is what brought me to strikes. It is not the amount of silver, I do love $200s, but rather, the beauty of the token and the presence of silver are the things that drive me. If you have ever witnessed me playing a machine, you may lost some hearing and noticed that I have a tendency to empty a machine for a red sitting on the bottom. I do this not because I need it for my collection but because I want it and there is silver in there!
Silver! Silver! Silver!
