Numismatist by day, silver striker two weekends a year. I love coins. This looks to be mechanical doubling. The die was not doubled and the coin was not struck twice. The die had chatter. If the die is not properly seated, it can move slightly or bounce during the moment of striking, creating a flat, shelf-like doubling. This effect will be different on all coins struck, so it is technically not a variety, but rather more of a striking error.
Is it certified or raw?
If you can find a collector Of Modern US varieties/errors your in luck. Otherwise I’d say good eye, keep searching. It’s a $7-$10 find in decent condition.
