you opened up a old memory. I was at my grandson t ball (baseball) game. Drove four hours the wife and I to go to the Saturday game.
Normal t ball game, sort of boring but your kids (grand kids) so you go. Anyhow, my grandson got a great hit (lucky) over the third baseman (was a boy not girl) (base girl sounds wrong) and we think whoooo a home run for sure. Well since I am old skool I got up and cheered like nothing else. I was promptly reprimanded by the home plate umpire for cheering for a single player. I looked right at him and said BULLSH*T this is my grandson and I will cheer if I want. He then asked me if I wanted him to be ejected from the game. I still call this a bunch of crapola that we must not cheer as we might hurt a little darlings feelings.
Same thinking with this participation award, no first, second third place.
Nonsense, it called real life. And we all know the kids are keeping score if the umpire does not.
Ok, off my soap box. Done ranting, for now.
