Re: So, a question regarding USPS shipping?

Hi Mike,

Complicated to deal with USPS and claims, but here is the short answer. if you bought the strike and have a receipt and that strike gets lost, they have to pay you the value of your cost, up to the insurance you requested. So let's say you bought a strike from Bill C for $200. You were selling it to me for $250 and you insured the package for $250. The post office gets the receipt from you that Bill gave you, and 30 days or so after the package was shipped, they begin processing the claim. Since you paid $200, you will get a check for $200. It can take another 30 to get paid. If you insured for $100, you would only get the $100.

Where it gets hard is if it's a strike you won. Then, you have to establish a value beyond face. That's where eBay and the guides help. So, if anyone has to file a claim, make sure you have some supporting documentation as to what you paid if possible, it make the process much easier.

And yes..... this advice is from previous claims (all paid) with the post office.......
