I made a chart of the shipping cost from zip code 44102 (Ohio) to zip code 96789 (HAWAII). I used the post office web site and then I used Ebay to calculate from an item I sold. I went from 1 ounce to 10 pounds. The prices are different. The Ebay list does not include any discounts which can be up to 50% off (this is why I print my own shipping labels). How can these be so different? Why such a big jump from 13 ounces to 14 ounces? Side question: why does it cost more to ship to OR than CA? I also added the Flat Rate boxes but did not include the regional boxes.
I use this chart to figure out shipping and then add it to the price (when offering FREE shipping) plus a little extra for boxes, tape, bubble wrap, labels, etc. I guess I'll just have to split the difference. If someone in NY buys from me they pay the high rate and I make more money. That is just the way it goes. Trying to figure out separate shipping can be a hassle since Ebay will not show you the calculations to different zip codes just the one you're in.
