Hi Jeff, Please share this with the entire BOD.
I am a Life member of the CCGTCC and I am a Charter Member and I was President (#2) when the Silver Striker Club was a Chapter of the CCGTCC and we were forced to separate from them. The original constitution was drawn up by me and looked over by attorneys and then approved by all involved. I put the phrase when implemented by the BOD in there. We were fairly new at the time and still growing and did not have the funds as we do now so we held off implementing the Life memberships clause. We were not sure what our dues would need to be in the future to support the club. I think we have determine that by now. The clause was only supposed to be in place for a few years. Then it was to be implemented and life membership made available to the members. I have been paying dues now for more than the fifteen years. I am tired of having to send in dues every year and think it is time for the life membership clause to be activated by the board. I would pay for another 15 years now and the Club would enjoy the increase in funds. The membership officer would no longer half to hound me and other LM's for yearly dues making there life easier. If I would have done it back when I was President we would have dozens of life members by now. I grantee a large number of members who are no longer living would have been life members. "Dennis Finn and Clayton Waterbury are examples here." Several more big time collectors at the time would have bought LM's but they are now no longer collecting and lost from our roles forever along with their knowledge and the history they had about strikes. "Christy Gregory comes to mind here." It would not cost the Club anything to implement this clause and if anything would help in the long term. I will go ahead and send in my yearly dues but I am not collecting as I used to so that may change in the future. Just think of the ones who have passed on that would have been LM's. There LM payment would have supported the Club in perpetuity if the funds were invested wisely. This was a mistake I wish I would not have made and all I can do now is say Sorry to the SS Club for my error.
Regards,
Don Nesbitt
