About Copper Rimmed Strikes...
During the first three months of 2001, several casinos had received silver strike coin minting with reddish tan copper-colored outer rings. The initial impression was that they are made from copper, though later reports said the metal was red brass. Whatever the material, the name copper ring/copper rim was the most popular name given. The slight change in Global Mint's silver strike rim colors was only temporary. It was rumored that Global was sent the reddish metal by mistake (an error), but used it anyway in order to avoid a delay in the production of silver strikes. These copper colored rim strikes were only in play for a very short time.
