Skip, I believe your post is misleading. true there were over 3 million S mint proof struck in 1968, the way I read your post all 1968 Kennedy halves were 1968 S proof. that is not true there were nearly 247 million minted at Philadelphia and nearly 130 million at Denver. all for circulation. the 1968 S were only in proof sets for collectors. from your scan none appear to be proofs, none I could make out a S mint, did see one which I think is a P mint, you are right about the silver content and silver melt at 4.16, but if none of these are proof, the retail value $5 - $5.50 each
