This is all just a guess, but when silver ran up to near $50/oz there were a lot of metal collectors/buyers and small coin dealers that were bidding heavy on silver strikes. I think a lot of those folks didn't realize then (and some still don't) that strikes with .999 stamped on the brass are not solid silver. Or, they don't care. So I think a lot of those purchasers are just listing the "Buy it Now" prices based on what they paid for them. They don't realize that common strikes are very closely tied to spot silver price.
