Was the email addressed to your name Lawrence ... or something like ... dear paypal user? If the latter, it was probably a phishing excercise trying to get you to respond so they now have your email addresss as a "live one" which they sell to other parties. Did you answer all their questions? If so, they now have additional information.

Forward the email you recieved to spoof@paypal.com and see what response you get.
