Why were only 100 club coins minted this year?

Our tenth anniversary coin has not sold out in spite of all we have done to help make that happen. The most unique coin we have made to date, our double logo, took over a year to sell out and that was after many requests to members. So this year I asked the Board to mint only what we could sell by the end of convention. Before I did so, I spoke with the mint manager and asked if we needed more coins would he mint them. He said he would with no required minimum. What a great offer but that like all things has limits. During the first week of April all club members were notified by newsletter of the club coin sale. (Also posted on club website ‘silverstrikers. com')

My feeling was if we sold out in the first two months we would go back and mint perhaps 50 more. We didn’t come close. Nearly three months later we still had 25% of our coins left and the price of silver rose 33% of our locked in price. Keep in mind when we started the 11th anniversary coin we still had 9th & 10th anniversary coins left.

I know that this is a club and not a business but I also know if we don’t consider the business aspects there won’t be a club. Remember we file taxes every year and we register with the Secretary of State of Nevada and follow their requirements. We also maintain an enrolled agent by law in Nevada.

Cheri Jollie, Becky Bottemiller and I did not run for office for the 2011-2013 term but we are still here working for the club and doing the best we can. I’m sorry if I disappointed anyone. I’m pretty sure I will do it again but not on purpose. I usually learn from my mistakes. This seems to have been one.
