After all the years the club has had their own strike and struggled to sell them (many people bought 2or3 to help the club)now that the club reduced the mintage in hopes they could sell all in the same year it seems we have some unhappy folks out there ( a note - nobody was allowed to buy more than 1 until after the order period had gone bye and you had to be a club member to buy, then it was open to everybody who wanted one). I see past years club strikes for sale on this message board and on ebay and jackpot and they go unsold, why is that if there is all of a sudden so much concern about the amout minted this time? I would think that the new members if they had interest would be buying the older years in hopes of having a complete set but they aren't.
The club started with a mintage of 400 for the first couple of years and had a hard time selling all, then it was reduced to 350, then 250 then 175 last year and those only just sold out thanks to some new members buying them. I don't know for sure but I thought I heard the mintage this year was 150, Bill Jollie could confirm this. I guess if members had supported the club strike program every year and they had sold out the same year the club might have continuewd with a higher mintage but I would assume the club officers got tired of keeping the old ones around and worrying the wouldn't sell, I had heard Bill Jollie had even talked about selling all the past years unsold strikes back to the mint and then they sold.
I guess maybe some of the unhapppy folks should contact our club president and see if more could be made, who knows the mint might agree to make more. If they do make more I would like to see an order period time set and then when the money is in hand have more made, again contact Bill Jollie.
One last thing I still have extras of the 4th, 5th and 6th ann. club strikes that I would sell.
