... a valid one Jim.
However, I'm not sure that most folks are scraping their entire collections. I've not disposed of one strike from my collection ... (yet) but I did take advantage of the recent runup in silver prices a few weeks back where I unloaded hundreds of duplicates that I could not sell/trade to collectors. In retrospect, I probably should have waited a few more weeks before selling ... but who knows where the price of silver will be a month from today?
One of the beautiful part of collecting strikes AND casino chips, is that there is a viable market to dispose of our treasures when we are ready. On the other hand ... there is no rule that says we have to hold on to our collections until we die... but sometimes that is the result that many unknowledgeable heirs are faced with who don't know what to do with a collection that has been left to them.
