I think at some point, and we're already getting close, strikes of all denominations will be worth silver value, and everything will be priced the same. There will no longer be "rare" strikes and common strikes, they will all be silver value. If you think about it, if APMEX is paying over $20 to buy $10 strikes, all the price guides that show a guide price of $12 to $18 are outdated. Guide price for every strike is now $20+, and at the same time, rare stuff has plummetted in value. Many buyers now are not strike collectors, they are silver bugs who stumbled on a cheap source of bullion...though it's not that cheap anymore, but still cheaper than one ounce rounds, which are approaching the high $40s now.
So in all likelihood, collectors won't pay over $600 for a $200 strike, but silver buyers will. Just like people who buy 10 oz. bars, these will just be generic 12 oz. rounds to them. Just my opinion. Unless silver crashes to $12 an ounce again, I think strike collectors will be limited to clad strikes, and all the silver ones will eventually be owned as bullion. The key will be to sell while the prices are high before the major correction, if there is one....
