George; A lot of folks are selling silver strikes now ... not waiting until the encomomy improves and/or when interest rates rise or fall. Generally spakeing, silver strkers are not concerned about "other commodities" but are interested in what is the melt value of their strikes now. I recall not too long ago when lots of strikers were happy to get face value for their strikes when many casinos refused to honor or redeem them at $10 each.
