There has been much posted as of late about selling strikes for melt and a great deal about the prices that are being paid and statements about getting less for a strike that has Gold Plating on it. I have been looking for some place to deal with since the passing of my coin/bullion dealer/friend and have found one that is what I think good to deal with. The buyer I have talked to has stated is company will pay .75 back of spot for any .999 Silver and it DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE if there is Gold Plating or Paint on the strike, he did say if it had a sticker (some of the RWM strikes had stickers)it would be nice if it was removed but if it wasn't they wouldn't reduce the price (this company knows what a Silver Strike is as they have had them sent in for melt). They also buy scrape sterling and other materials but I didn't ask about prices on those items. The only down side (if you want to call it that)is they pay with a check and it takes 5 days after the material is received by them for the seller to receive their money (but if some dealers are paying as much as $4 back of spot I would wait the few days to get paid), material can be mailed or delivered in person.
So when people what to sell a strike for what they say is melt they should use Spot minus .75 cents times the Troy Weight of the silver in the strike they want to sell.
If anybody wish's to know the company I am going to deal with email me and I will supply the information.
