Come on back! My dues went out in yesterday's mail.
Maybe all of us working together can figure out a way that the old timers and the new members make an effort to mingle a little more. I have slowly but surely been meeting more club members each time I can get away to Las Vegas and I tell you what, there are some great stories to be shared and great friendships to be made. Maybe a new section in the newsletter? Along with Pioneers of the club, do an interview with a "future pioneer" to introduce the club to some new members? We know there aren't a whole lot of strikes to play for right now (hopefully that improves) so the main thing to look forward to is the friendships to be made. Maybe every time a club member is going to Las Vegas they can post here (if they wish) when they'll be there so other club members who either live there or will be there at the same time can meet at the strike machines and introduce themselves.
At Disneyland, if it's your birthday, you can get a nametag that you wear that has your name real big and everywhere you go, all the employees say "Happy Birthday" and call you by name. Maybe at SS tournaments or club functions, new members can wear a "new member" nametag that says their name real big, and make a tradition that all the club members say "welcome aboard" and call them by name. That is one way to learn names real fast and meet new people. Of course not everyone will become friends, but if you never meet you will never know. It will definitely make the new members feel more welcome.
Dave.
