I have written to my contact at the mint and asked for an explanation as to how they make a strike and also the composition of the rim. I will post it when received. Here is a scan of our club die that strikes the coin. As you see the image is complete including the rim imprint. Seeing this, the placard should be pre-assembled before the final striking.
