() Speaking of which, I think that is another misperception that the entire rim is brass....I'm pretty sure the rim is some kind of base metal and a thin brass coating to make it look gold colored. I have many strikes where the brass coating has flaked off, and unless brass is a grayish color, it is definitely not brass underneath.
