I think we need to set the record straight. It was stated that there has been a flood of Military $200s on the market. Well, I did some checking on new strikes that have come out over the last year and I came up with 146 total (I’m sure I may have missed some, it’s late) of which 9 are $200s, 4 are $40s and the rest are $10s. Of that whole group ONLY SEVEN (7) can be called military strikes the rest honor Heroes from all walks of life, Police, Firemen, Medical, Homeland Security and those lost on 9/11. I think you do a great injustice to all of them to just lump them all together under the heading of Military.
Looking at the $200s none are Military however I can see where the Palms Pentagon may be perceived as one. Actually the Palms Pentagon is a close copy of the lapel pin that was given out by President Bush to family members at the Pentagon Memorial Service.
As for $10 Military, The Barbary Coast, Flamingo, Gold Coast, Luxor, Paris and Suncoast each had one.
I think the real complaint is the use of the same (or closely related) design by many different casinos and I agree that some of the Patriotic designs have been overly reused. However, even with designs being overly reused there are still only a total of 7 military strikes.
This is not the first time that the same design has been reused many times. How many Panner, Pony Express, Trains on Bridges, Sport Figures, Celebrities, Cards, Dice and Slot Machines have you seen?
I like most of the new designs and would like to see more military designs, new designs not just a reissue of an old design.
You referenced calling the casino and telling them what not to do. I recommend that you call them and tell them what you would like to see. Submit designs, justify your reason for submitting that design and follow up with them to see how your design was accepted, get some feedback and submit some more designs. If one casino does not like it try somewhere else.
Said another way, if someone feels there is a problem don’t just complain provide a solution. They may not have a solution but if they don’t look they’ll never find one. At the same time if one feels there is a problem and not enough other people see it as a problem than they might have to suck it up and live with it. (If they don’t buy the problem strikes, they won’t have to live with them.)
Sooooo.. pick up the phone, send an email or write a letter to the Palms telling them to get out those Armed Forces strikes as soon as possible.
Now go do the right thing.*g*
