Regarding Archie's post about the convenience of staying at South Point outweighs the inconvenience of driving to other places, I think for Strikers it's the exact opposite. I would guess that many of the strikers who attend do so more because of all the new strikes released that week, not because of the few dealer tables to look at. Also, from what I have heard about the strike club annual meeting, it is just a bunch of people fighting over power and complaining, so who would want to attend that? Driving from South Point to the Four Queens is quite a drive, especially if you don't have a car and need to take a cab. That is a major inconvenience.
Be honest, how many STRIKERS attend mainly because of the convention activities? They attend to meet up with good friends, play for strikes and new releases, and I think then further down the list is to check out the convention, trade session, etc. I know many strikers who go to Las Vegas during the convention and don't attend any of the club events. But they play for strikes all over town and have dinner with friends, and gamble, etc. I think having a silver strike tournament may draw more people there during the convention than if there wasn't one.
