I also have to agree with both sides of this topic concerning the convention. Let's go back a few years when the convention was held at the Tropicana and then to the Riviera. With the number of Silver Strikers tables that were set up, first at the Tropicana and then the Riviera, Silver Strikers could spend more then one day going to each dealer of Silver Strikes searching for what they needed to fill holes in their collections. Also, Jackpot Auctions had a booth set up where they had chips, crackers, cake, soda and water free of charge for ALL who were at the convention, then all of this was stopped at the Riviera because they wanted everyone who was at the convention to purchase food and drinks only at their food court! I remember Marie and I having lunch with Dennis Finn all the way out from the convention at the Riviera food court when Dennis Finn's oxygen take went empty and I had to run all the way back to where the convention was being held to go to where Dennis Finn and Linda had their table set up just to get him a new tank of oxygen, by the time I got all the way back to where we were having lunch, I think I needed the oxygen more then he did! Each year the number of tables for the Silver Strikers keeps getting smaller and smaller with a minimal amount of tables for strikers to go to. With the number of Silver Strike dealers that are set up at the convention you can go through all of them in 2-3 hours looking for what you need. As far as staying at South Point, I feel that it was more convenient when the convention was held on the strip where you didn't have to drive everywhere you wanted to go if you wanted to gamble somewhere else, eat at the different restaurants or go to the mall shopping. With the way the economy is, you can get deals anywhere in Las Vegas because they are all hurting for business!
