At one time there were close to a dozen chapters that belonged to CC & GTCC. According to the club's legal cousel, Eric Rosenblum, the fact that all of the individuals who belonged to the chapters did not hold dual CC & GTCC membership, which jeopardized our 501-C3 tax expempt status and caused a lot of internal reporting problems that was required within the various Chapters. ("Chapters" are treated differently than "member clubs" by the IRS) In hindsight; perhaps the CC & GTCC originally should have had "member clubs" instead of chapters ... such as ANA has. At any rate, the CC & CTCC unilaterally disbanded all the chapters several years ago to comply with IRS regulations ... but srill maintains its support for the now local clubs... including new local clubs that have been formed after disbanding the former chapters.
But to get to Jeff's comment ... "The CC>CC is still considered our parent club even though we operate separately." ... some may treat CC & GTCC as the 'parent club' ... but the fact is that all of the former "Chapters" are now independent clubs and have NO official affiliation with CC & GTCC... and CC & GTCC has no control over the individual clubs. While the Silver Strikers Club is still a nationwide organization (nothing has really changed as far as the SS club's operation is concerned)... most of the former "Chapters" are now independent local clubs, such as the Atlantic City Casino Collectibles Club and others ... I would hope that the local clubs continue to encourage and support the goals of CC & GTCC. We're all in this hobby together.
I write this post for the benefit of any newcomers not familiar with our past history and to clear up any potential misunderstandings.
Now if I can only convince Norm Clem that chippers play for their casino complimentaries too ...
