Don't be fooled. It is very easy to mistake the so called copper rim for a rim that has toned or tarnished. The alloy mix on the rims has changed many times. Not uncommon. Some particular strikes have some alloy mix that tones red. There are two ways to detect a true copper rim. The copper rim strike has an edge that is a brass finish. Even though the copper rims tone as well as the brass rims the edge on a true copper will tone differently. If one wishes to be more aggressive the toning can be removed. A true copper rim will remain the red tone even when cleaned. Obviously the red on a toned rim returns to a bright brass finish. Every one of the so called copper rim Orleans I've examined are indeed brass rims with tarnish. The Hard Rock S mint series can be seen with the red toning as well.
