Jo, wish I could put up a scan. I am getting a scanner this weekend. The date 1996 on the common variety has curved legs on the 9's and 6 like these numbers. The straight variety the legs do not curve, they go straight down or up on the six. Hope this helps. Maybe someone who has this variety can help out and put up a scan. It is listed in Richard Andersons book with a picture and in Art Beckers book they are listed as large and small date. Thanks in advance.
