what works extremely well for me is TARN-X wipe and rinse (applied with a q-tip) then wash in warm water then TARN-X silver glaze (dab it on , let it dry, then paper towel off dry residue, wash again then let air dry leaning on edge then recap.
this works well on the silver and brass. no scratches and as good as new.
i have some that i cleaned and capped three to four years ago and they still look pristine.
