Just FYI, from what I have been told of the strike manufacturing process, the "blanks" are the entire brass and silver combined, and then that is pressed to form the completed strike. It is not a rim made and then a silver insert made and then put together. So your description that the rim was made for Sam's Town and the silver was made for Fremont is a little off. What happened was they mixed up the dies so one half of the die was a Sam's Town die and the other half of the die was a Fremont die, which is what a mule is. A limited number of them got out at Sam's Town before they realized the error (or maybe they put some out on purpose, who knows).
