A note on Post Office insurance : I do not get post office insurance for several reasons.
1 - If the US Post Office is doing what it should be doing. There would be no need for it.
2 - The US Post Office should pay for their own mistakes like the rest of the world. Stealing or otherwise
3 - Most importantly-- If I had payed postal insurance for ALL the items I have sent or recieved through the mail. I would have payed "WELL OVER $1000.00" for postal insurance alone. In all this time(quite a few years) I have lost ONLY -1- $10 silver strike I payed the seller $12.50 for including shipping. It was a very obvious PO screw up(stolen) in route to me. And it only had to teavel 160 miles to get to me from Houston. Tx.
I would much rather pay that "well over $1000.00" amount for strikes &/or trips. Then give it to the Post Office.
Maybe I will lose something in the future. But right now I am 'WELL OVER $1000.00" ahead. And have to lose
A LOT of value of something(s) while mailing something in the future. To get to this loss amount.
4 - It can be a pain in the A** and will usually end up(unless a very high $$$ item) costing more then the value of the item to collect the PO insurance. Especially if you have no good record of the value of the lost item.
THINK ABOUT IT concerning your dealings
