Arrow #1 is pointing to a section of the brass ring that is slightly covered in silver. The #2 arrow is pointing towards a fine sliver of silver that is pointed at one end and blends into the silver medallion at the other end. However, armed with only a 10x loupe, it looks to this layman that a small piece of silver was pressed onto the strike during the minting process. Not sure what this is called, but does it in effect, ruin the strike?
Thanks for looking!
