Question regarding a striking error...

In the photo below (which is the best I can do with the macro mode on my camera) I am detailing a portion of an older issue Liberty Gator, $10 strike from The Orleans. By "older" I am saying this is not a 10th Anniversary strike.

Arrow #1 is pointing to a section of the brass ring that is slightly covered in silver. The #2 arrow is pointing towards a fine sliver of silver that is pointed at one end and blends into the silver medallion at the other end. However, armed with only a 10x loupe, it looks to this layman that a small piece of silver was pressed onto the strike during the minting process. Not sure what this is called, but does it in effect, ruin the strike?

Thanks for looking!

Jim
