Several days ago I received a call at about 9:00 a.m. from a hustler who informed me that the Bellagio had a bank of 12 Blackjack Slots that were at or near full pay at about 100%. Anyway the payoff was 1 1/2 times for blackjack, you could surrender, split pairs and double down on 10 or 11.
You could wager anywhere from 25 cent a hand up to $100 a hand. He told me huslers were making up to $500 an hour playing these slots. The slot cards at the Bellagio pay about 7/10th of 1% per $1 bet. Now when you are playing over 700 hands per hour at $100 a hand (70 cents per hand on slot card) this amounts to around $500 per hour on your slot card. Ten hours of play earns about $5000 per machine. I called my blackjack expert at 11:00 after locating the machines and asked him to play them for me. He said he would come over later after playing poker and I told him they would be shut down before the day was over. He showed up at 3:00 and I led him to the slots. He told me he has been in Vegas over thirty years and had never played a slot before. I had to show him how to put the money in the bill acceptor. Right away he liked it when I told him about THE 7/10th of 1% payback on the slot cards. Anyway to make a short story long he played for about 1 1/2 hours when they closed the bank down. I ended up losing about $100.
It is a shame that the slot cards caused these blackjacks to get reduced from full pay to about 98%. I don't think anyone could have beat these slots at full pay if the slot card hadn't offered such an edge to the player.
