Re: Another question about clads

There are, is, or have been questionable dealers & discriptions as well as unknowlegeable dealers & persons. Who have claimed the silver strike outside ring is gold plated or even solid gold. I have seen this myself but as Dennis said it is and has always been made of brass. -----With 1 exception to this------

Exception---- There is some earlier minted $10 strikes not a large amount (about 144 different 1's) of strikes that had a ---copper ring----. As far as I know the copper ring strikes all came from Nevada casino's. No copper rim strikes came from non-Nevada casino's. Also as far as I know NO copper rim silver strikes has been minted for several years.
Other then this 1 exception all $10 strikes has a brass ring.

Howdy's and William Cohenour silver strike guides as well as maybe some other silver strike guides. List all the copper ring strikes that has been released so far.

What it comes down to---if a person is going to collect or even sell silver strikes. Know & learn EVERYTHING YOU CAN about the silver strikes you are collecting.

Note: I once saw a ebay seller claiming the outer ring of a $10 strike was SOLID GOLD. I knew especially on that $10 strike had a brass ring. I contacted him through ebay to help to clear this metal mistake up. He came back very very disturbed saying "THAT I DID NOT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT". He has been the the jewelry & precious metal business for 30+ years. He had tested the metal ring on the $10 strike -- "IT TESTED SOILD GOLD WITH OUT A DOUBT" so he said. I just gave up on him he could not be helped.
