Re: What makes it a clad strike?

A clad strike -- is a strike with a brass center with silver plating on the brass center. It is plated silver on both sides of the center. It has the usual brass ring on the outside of the strike center. You can determine if a strike is a clad strike or not because it HAS NO .999 on it anywhere.

The clad strike is made a lot like the american money you use as change when you buy something. Look at the edge of a coin in your money change. You will see a silver outside on both sides with a brass or copper (color) center. In a silver strike you can't see this because of the outside ring.

There will be some pictures of clad strikes in the next SS club 4th quarter newsletter.
