Happy holidays! My opinion about our hobby. I live in Trenton, MI. I get to Vegas once a year. For someone like me to get all the current strikes, it is impossible. The best ways are trading and shows. I know that I will never have a complete set. I would love to have all the Strikes prior to 2001, but I know this will never happen. I can't afford the San Remo, Circus Circus, Puffless Pete's, and the many others. But I do know this... I don't mind paying a premium for a Strike that I want. If I have to pay a little extra for a Strike that completes a certain Casino series, then I will. The greatest joy I experience is winning one, but if I have to buy one on Ebay or the other auctions, I'll do what I feel is reasonable. After 10 years of collecting, we all have some fun stories and "steals" that we got on Ebay or other sites. If some new collectors wants to pay a premium for a certain strike, let them.I know that a few years ago I made those same very mistakes. I bidded way to much for a certain strike, but I learned. The same very people who are doing the same thing now, will also learn. I believe this board does a great job of policing and informing collectors of our hobby. It's sad though, when I see people belittle, insult, or even try do harm to others on this board. I can only hope that in 2003, we can truly enjoy this hobby for just that, a hobby. And for those who make it a business, I hope you treat people fairly and not take advantage of a fellow collector. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!
