The buyer is obviously new, has bought other items above market lately, but there's no excuse for a newbie buying an item for $1M plus. Even a newbie wouldn't pay 5 times catalog, so the catalogers aren't to blame in this case. I suspect he doesn't even have a catalog.
The blame is possible "shills". The buyer should be told to hold off on completing his purchase until it can be checked out, but I wonder if eBay would consider that "interference"?
