Warren - I think what the Rep you talked to was saying is it will be O.K. for short period of time and then it will not be allowed. Go in and read all the details for the new policy, some auctions are not subect to the Pay Pal Only but they are auction most of use would not use.
I do belive this is just another way for eBay to raise more cash and nothing else, it will be interesting to see what happens as far as how sales go for sellers as this only has an impact on sellers since buyers pay no Pay Pal fees. There are still a large number of buyers who won't use Pay Pal, I myself have several I sell to that will only pay with a check or money order.
One thing for sure with eBay stock way way down they won't give out any figures saying if this has resulted in more sales or less sales and I would bet that a if completed auctions take a down turn there will be another round of Fee Increases for sellers and they might even think of charging a buyer to use Pay Pal, if they do that they will be shooting them selfs in the foot I think.
I have already seen an increase in starting auction prices since the new policy came in and I will raise my starting bid prices on my auctions to cover some part of the Pay Pal fee.
