It is not an intentional attack. You must understand how the virus works.
1) Someone, perhaps several people, who read the board regularly have been infected with the virus.
2) When they read the board, all the pages they view are stored in the cache on their computer. This stored information just happens to include your name and email address because they read your post. Their cache also holds other names and addresses of other club members.
3) The virus searches the cache and randomly grabs your name and puts it in the "Send To" position. It also randomly grabs another name and puts it in the "From" position. Then, it grabs a line of text and puts it in the "Subject" position and fires off the email.
4) That is why it looks so familar when you get it.
5) NO. My host has no virus.
6) EVERYONE has an obligation to BUY CURRENT VIRUS PROTECTION software, install it and UPDATE it regularly. So many people think that the freebie virus software they got with their computer, that has never been updated, will protect them. It absolutely WILL NOT.
I would suggest to everyone on this board, that if your VIRUS software does not catch 1 or 2 viruses in your email EVERY SINGLE DAY, then you may be part of the problem because IT ISN'T WORKING!
