I have the same answer as Jeff, with different words.
With the front of the coin facing you right side up, turn the coin over, bottom to top. The back side will be right side up. Coin Aligned
With the token or strike, the face right side up, turn the coin over, bottom to top and the back is upside down. Medal Aligned
Some of the new State Quarters were made, in error, Medal Aligned. Sometimes a SPT will be made, in error, Coin aligned.
Just for the sake of collecting terms. The front is the Obverse and the back is the Reverse, but I didn't want to make it more confusing.
Thanks for the tip, I went through a box of 20 strikes, looking for frosted, shiny, looking at mint marks, and never thought to check the alignment. One more thing for the check list.
