Recently I was asked the following regarding the cleaning of Silver Strikes. I have written back to the inquirer and have noted to him that I would post the questions here for a quantity response from fellow collectors.
#1-How do Silver Strike collectors feel about cleaning strikes? I know that cleaning coins for coin collectors is not desired and cleaning chips is acceptable. Is it an accepted practice to use silver and brass polish to remove tarnish?
#2-Do the materials that comprise the silver strike capsules promote silver oxidation and brass tarnish or are they of archival quality?
MY concern, is that if any tokens were ever to be a slab candidate (I am totally against slabbing of Silver Strikes), then even thinking about cleaning a token would be a SIN!
