Yes Dee, although it is a temporary fix, it does work (or I would not have posted it). The design is flawed, the machines are old with parts wearing out, the Bill Validator stacker is ancient etc etc, but strikes are fun, unfortunately not for casino personnel! The main problem is getting the point out to the employees. Most of them will just shine it on and only the caring ones would say, what the heck, I will try it since it cannot make it worse! I have actually used fine emory paper on the slide (where the strikes leave the hopper) to get the dirt off and smooth it and then used the car wax.....(My techs thought I was nuts)machines never jammed at Sids when I was there after that. In fact I used the same procedure on a Telephone card dispensing machine with excellent results.
If it had not worked, the machine would have been kicked off my floor since low staffing levels do not provide for problem games! My attitude is that I have it fixed once....after that it costs my operation $$$$. The business is run strictly by the math in my departments...no emotion at all....just ask Nevada Jack, Fishing Walt, Cellulow,Clingrose, and others who know me!
BTW: I have been getting some energy lately, thus the posts....70-85 hr weeks are taking their toll so If I do not post for a while......zzzzzzzzzzz
Luck to all!
