Here is one of my favorite Las Vegas websites which I discovered a few years ago. The map is handy for pinpointing the location of casinos on the Strip. Past, present, and future.
I was stunned last year when a local news station did a story about the El Rancho implosion and made references to it being one of the first casinos on Las Vegas Boulevard (without mentioning it as the Thunderbird). As a matter of fact, I know several people mistakenly thought El Rancho was the El Rancho Vegas even though the 1960 fire is fairly well known. I'm amazed that the TV news didn't do a bit more research concerning the property.
Toward the bottom of the website you'll find links to other sites that celebrate old Vegas legends around the web. There's one covering Downtown as well. I thought a few of you might find something of interest.
