Well Said Dave. I don't "only" collect because of the silver content. I collect "because" of the intrinsic value. I have $30k invested in my silver strike collection and would not have done so without the intrinsic value of the silver backing my investment. If I was just looking for a souvenier, I would collect matchbook covers, room keys, slot cards, or ashtrays. It is not cheap to collect silver strikes and I most certainly would not have invested tens of thousands of dollars into clad tokens. I am not a member of the club as I don't need to be a member of any club to collect anything. I would never slam someone or tell them not to collect the clad strikes. Collect what you like, period. I will be headed to vegas next week for the first time in over a year and will play the strike machines for possibly the last time. I wish they had gone the $20 or $40 route versus the clad route, but such is life. I will just focus on some of the older strikes I don't currently have and adopt the attitude that what is clad in vegas stays in vegas.
