The worst web offense is when someone just links to your picture/scan on YOUR web pages. Now that's low!
If anyone wants to use any chip, dice, silver strike or casino objects images from my pages, you have my permission. Other photos and materials you will need to ask.
I don't believe I own a scan or picture of a casino chip. However as the never ending debate goes on, I would agree that just stealing it, is in bad taste. Most people would say, sure use it.
One of the problems is how does someone know the seller actually has the item, when they are just using borrowed pictures? How do we know if they have the identical strike and haven't just looked at it on the surface? That's why caution should be used when bidding on items with "borrowed" images.
Lest someone miss the point, I agree, don't take someone elses pictures, without asking. All the legal wrangling aside, it's just being considerate to take the time to ask.
Using your own picture of something you own, to sell it, would not be in violation of copywrite laws. Logically thinking, there would be virtually no pictures in any private ads or auctions, if this was not true.
