Re: Unknown emails
In Response To: Re: Unknown emails ()

I picked up a computer trick from Ask Ratdog that might be a way to stop an e-mail virus from spreading to your address book, and will alert you that the worm is in your system. In your address book, add an entry like this: for the name, enter aaaaaaaaaa, then in the e-mail address window, enter wormalert@somewhere.com. According to Ratdog, the aaaaa will be the first name in your address book, and will be the place where the worm will start in an effort to send itself to your address book. When it tries to send itself to aaaaa, it will be undeliverable because of the phony e-mail address. Once this first attempt fails, the worm will go no further, according to Ratdog. The second advantage to this strategy is that you will be notified that this e-mail cannot be delivered, so if you ever get notice that an e-mail addressed to wormalert@somewhere.com could not be delivered, you'll know that your system has been hit with a virus, and you can hopefully get rid of it with a virus detection program. I don't know for sure that this trick works, but I have it on my computer.
