Richard; I was going to skip over this whole thread which began to turn nasty. It is not my intention to get nasty with you ... or to engage in name calling, but I can not allow you to mis-represent 14k gold as being "solid".
Of course it's solid with respect to mass.... but it certainly is not solid with respect to gold. 14k gold as you very well know, is mixed with other alloys ... so your 14k example is NOT solid gold. 24k gold is pure gold ... which makes it solid gold. 12k gold is only 50% gold ... so it can not be considered "solid" gold.. nor are your other examples of less than 24k "solid" gold.
Your comment to Becky, that she was acting like a smart-as* was uncalled for because she tried to correct your inaccurate statement... yet you chastise others for using a similar term.
Would you also say that 40% silver Kennedy half-dollars are also "solid" (silver). All coins are "solid" something Richard.... but none are "solid" silver. Silver coins are 90% silver.
Would you call a cupro-nickel Ike Dollar or Susan B. Anthony Dollar "silver" and then say "well it is silver in color"?
