Re: New Auction Site
In Response To: Re: New Auction Site ()

Jackpot, no offense to anyone, is the home of revolving auctions, that just run and run and run and run over and over and over. The same sellers selling the same stuff, they don't sell and because it's free, they just keep relisting. As a collector, it's a great place to find some deals, as a seller it is a graveyard. I have put items on jackpot a few times with no results. Not only that, eBay will get you HUGE increases in selling prices than Jackpot. Way more than any lack of fees that Jackpot gives. Then there are also the world famous "downtimes" that seem to be common on Jackpot. To each his own, and for some people that just want to keep it out there until someone finally buys it, that's great. I would much rather sell it quickly on eBay. There is no other auction site that can compare, and I doubt there ever will be. It would take a giant like Microsoft to pull it off, and they would probably just buy eBay rather than start one from scratch...just my opinion.

I think Jackpot needs to charge listing fees, to make it more meaningful and make people have to at least pay if they want to run the same strike for 20 weeks....and with eBay's new fees coming up, the listing fees are getting smaller and smaller, and they are going to allow fixed price auctions to run 30 days for the same low listing fee...

Dave.
