keep the hobby going
In Response To: Re: Part 2 - HSP comments ()

"To keep the hobby going, it’s probably important to keep the club active and growing."

I also think to educate prospective and newer members. For example: This can become an expensive hobby unless you plan out what you want to collect. Does anyone know just the face value of the total number of strikes available? Even just 50 $200's will have a face value of $10,000 and cost you more than that to collect them. One should know going in what options are available (collect a certain casino, or various themes, or only $200s) and learn that it takes time to gather up your collection. BUY A GUIDE! Or look at SilverStrikers.com for pictures of all existing strikes. Either way - develop a plan.

Has there ever been a convention in the Midwest or out East? How about having a mini-convention for those who can't make it to Las Vegas? Could Shaun run a Slot Tournament from another casino and bring along the tournament strikes and $200's?

I really like the to clean or not to clean, and storage article, that was in the Quarterly newsletter recently. I know it is time consuming to write those, but one or two of those types of informational snipits every quarter would be awesome in educating members.
