Golden Gate workers strike
Union workers went out on strike at the Golden Gate on Monday evening, hours after workers at the Western, the only other property not to agree on a new union contract agreement, learned they soon may be out of a job.
Early Monday morning, Culinary and Bartenders negotiators finished two months of negotiations on new five-year agreements with five of the last seven holdout downtown hotel-casinos, El Cortez, Plaza, Las Vegas Club, Binion's Horseshoe and the Castaways, after union members voted to delay a 12:01 a.m. Monday strike deadline while talks continued.
