The construction on this token is the same as all the $200 tokens since the $200 was introduced. In 2006 the Palms released the first colorized $200 and again the only difference was color replaced the gold. IGT was the driving factor behind the switch from gold to color. All the $200 collectors I know have been pushing for a return to the gold on silver and to drop the colorized $200. In my opinion the gold on silver is a much better looking token.
A side note: It is fitting to have the Palms bring back the gold on silver as the first colorized $200 was released New Year 2006 and it was from the Palms also.
Additionally, some one asked about “Certificate of Authenticity. The certificates went away just prior to the introduction of the colorized $200. My interpretation is that IGT just didn’t want to fool with them and could see it as a cost savings move so they stopped it. I understand that the casinos which asked about it were told if they wanted the certificates they would have to pay extra.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
