How soon do we all forget? Who does our loyalty belong to?
Think back a few days when Gene, from the Palms, was throwing questions at us because he truly was interested in seeing a strike program started there. One of my thoughts was that they have their prospective tournament at the same time as one of the local casino shows in town, thinking it would be a great way to help boost a sometimes lagging attendance at those shows.
Well, lo and behold, Rene has to jump on the band wagon. Now, his ideas are really great... I was ready to jump in myself. But I started thinking and all it is, is a money grabbing opportunity and he had to try to undercut the Palms to do it...making public his plans as quick as possible before the Palms announced their plans. There was a real possibility of the Palms scheduling their tournament during Rene's show...maybe only a slight possibility, but...
First of all, I would like to point out that in the past many chippers have had issues with Rene because of his tactics.
Secondly, the Palace Station quit their silver strike program because they didn't think we were worth the trouble. Now all they they see is a chance of getting some riches. Of course, we know the casinos have to make money, but they've got to stay for the long haul and take the good with the bad.
Thirdly, as mentioned before, the Palms is trying to start a program and we should back them. It's not nice when someone tries to steal their thunder. Do you really think the Palms could have a tournament now if Rene has one so close in time? I doubt it...they just got kicked in the butt.
I guess we are just all so happy that SOMEONE is trying to have a tournament, we forget the more important things.
