When I saw in the last newsletter that the Bar River Casino in Odanah WI had silver strike machines I couldn’t wait to go try them. My wife Nancy and I planned a nice getaway weekend to go play the machines. We made the 6 hour drive from Madison only to find out that the machines are no longer there. I asked around and a couple of Slot techs said they have been gone for 6 months and one other said he didn’t think it was that long ago. Either way there were no strike machines there. We did have a good time though. It was fun playing the “old” machines again. They still have several coin in and coin out only machines. Some that had a bill accepter retrofitted to them. They even had some ticket in ticket out machines but they did not seem to payout much so we stuck to the older slots. I was also surprised that they weighted the coins for payout instead of counting them. We played roulette for a few hours and Nancy had all of the pink chips for about a half an hour and she cashed out over $200 ahead and I was even. We had great fun, but he food was terrible. I am not sure I would make the trip again but I am glad we went. By the way we had a whirlpool suite and with all the taxes it was about $70. Thank for reading - Jim Dunham SS-759
